City Lottery & UNICEF: Gaming with Responsibility Campaign
In an atmosphere of sports, solidarity, and social commitment, LOTBA joined the UNICEF Race for Education, an event that brought together nearly 5,000 participants with the goal of raising funds for educational programs aimed at girls, boys, and adolescents across the country.
In addition to participating with its team in the competition, the city lottery set up an informational stand where it officially presented its campaign “Talking is Winning,” focused on raising awareness about childhood gambling addiction and the responsible use of gaming in digital environments.
“Together with UNICEF Argentina, we work throughout the year on awareness and the fight against illegal betting among minors. It is a pleasure to accompany them again in this race for education,” said Jesús María Acevedo, president of LOTBA, through his LinkedIn account.
Acevedo also highlighted the institution’s commitment to public policies that promote equity and the comprehensive development of childhood:
“At the City Lottery, we reaffirm our commitment to initiatives that promote equity and the comprehensive development of girls, boys, and adolescents. Talking is the first step to preventing problematic gambling,” he stated.
A campaign to promote dialogue and prevention
Launched in June 2025, the “Talking is Winning” campaign aims to bring the topic of responsible gambling into everyday conversation, especially among families and educational communities. The initiative addresses the early exposure of minors to betting platforms and video games with gambling dynamics, a growing trend driven by technology and social networks.
In statements to the media outlet Lawyers in Action, Acevedo emphasized the importance of active adult supervision:
“Many times our children spend a lot of time in front of screens, and we take it as natural and safe. But we need to know what they are doing there, accompany them, and assume the responsibility we have as adults.”
The head of LOTBA also stressed that the prevention of problematic gambling “is not solved by regulation alone, but through dialogue, information, and digital education.”
Institutional commitment and joint work
LOTBA and UNICEF Argentina maintain a strategic alliance focused on protecting childhood and preventing gambling among minors, through joint actions of awareness-raising, training, and public communication.
The “Talking is Winning” stand at the race was one of the most visited spaces, featuring interactive activities, educational materials, and brief talks for families, where topics such as safe internet use, the impact of online gambling, and risk signs of addiction were addressed.
With this action, LOTBA seeks to consolidate its position as a regional leader in Responsible Gaming policies, in line with the international standards promoted by the World Lottery Association (WLA) and the European Lotteries (EL).
