Corrections policy
We cover an industry that moves fast and where figures change from one day to the next. At that pace, mistakes happen. What defines a serious outlet is not never being wrong, but what it does when it is.
This page explains how we correct.
What we consider an error
We distinguish three situations, each handled differently.
A factual error is an incorrect element that changes the meaning of the published information. A wrong figure, a wrong date, a misattributed job title, a rule cited inaccurately or a statement assigned to the wrong person.
A minor inaccuracy does not change the meaning of the story but is still worth fixing. A misspelled name, an imprecise geographic reference or a broken link.
An update is not a correction. It is new information added to a published story because the facts moved on, for example a bill that was finally approved or a deal that closed.
How we handle each case
For a factual error we fix the text and add a correction note at the end of the story stating what it said originally, what it says now and the date of the change. The correction note stays published permanently. We do not delete or hide the error.
If the factual error affects the headline, we fix it and flag that explicitly in the correction note, because the headline is what travels furthest.
For a minor inaccuracy we fix the text and update the modification date of the story, without adding a correction note.
For an update we add the new information to the body of the story, state the update date and, when the change is substantial, flag it at the top of the text.
What we do not do
We do not unpublish stories to make an error disappear. If a piece of information turns out to be wrong in full, we keep the URL live with a visible warning at the top explaining what was corrected and why.
We do not change the meaning of a published story without leaving a record of the change.
We do not remove content at the request of a company or an individual simply because the information is uncomfortable. We do correct any element shown to be inaccurate.
How to report an error
Write to info@igaming.bet with the URL of the story, the element you believe is wrong and, where possible, the source supporting the correction.
We review every report. We reply within 48 business hours, stating whether a correction applies and, if so, when it will be made.
If you are the subject of a story and believe there is an inaccuracy, you can use the same channel. Your response or clarification may be added to the text when it provides relevant context.
How we work
Our process for selecting, verifying and editing content is described in our editorial standards.
