Ocean Casino Resort opened in June 2018 as Atlantic City highest investment casino in 25 years, being the reconversion of the former Revel Casino Hotel that had opened in 2012 and closed in 2014 after two bankruptcies. Revel, with USD 2.4 billion original investment, was the most expensive casino project ever built in Atlantic City and closed after only 26 months of operation, being the largest failure in Atlantic City gaming history. Ocean Casino Resort revived it as the city highest architectural and design-level casino.
