Foxwoods Resort Casino is the largest casino resort on the US East Coast and the country second largest, with 31,960 square meters of gaming floor, more than 4,800 slot machines, 280 gaming tables with blackjack, baccarat, craps, roulette and poker, multiple poker rooms including Fox Tower Poker Room, sports betting, six hotels with more than 2,200 rooms, more than 30 restaurants, Grand Theater, Fox Theater, luxury shopping malls and MGM Grand at Foxwoods, an 825-room hotel within the complex. It operates under Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation supervision and Connecticut State regulation. Foxwoods was founded in 1986 as the Mashantucket Pequot tribe bingo hall and became a full casino in 1992, being along with Mohegan Sun the casino that proved the large-scale tribal casino model was economically viable outside of Las Vegas.

Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun are Connecticut two largest private employers and contribute hundreds of millions of dollars annually to the state treasury.
