Argentina: Compulsive Gambling Alerts up 27% in Last Year
A report from Sedronar reveals a record number of calls to the 141 hotline during 2025. The province of Buenos Aires tops the ranking of help requests, while the profile of the caller shows a clear gender divide.
The visibility of online betting and the ease of access to gaming platforms have ceased to be merely a regulatory debate to become a tangible public health statistic. According to the latest report presented by the Secretariat of Comprehensive Drug Policies of the Argentine Nation (Sedronar), consultations about compulsive gambling behaviors reached a historic peak in 2025.
The document, titled "Summary of telephone behaviors for compulsive gambling to the 141 line", shows a progressive and worrying growth. During the last year, 396 specific calls were recorded on this issue, representing a 27% increase compared to the 311 cases reported in 2024.
