Boldt regains control of Mar del Plata, Tandil, Miramar for 20 years
Boldt S.A. solidified its role as one of Argentina's most significant casino operators after the Provincial Institute of Lotteries and Casinos of Buenos Aires officially awarded it Public Tender N° 2/2025. The company will operate the Casino Anexo III of Mar del Plata, located in the Hermitage Hotel, the Tandil Casino, and the Miramar Casino for the next 20 years. These three venues have historically been part of its portfolio on the Atlantic coast and in the center of the province.
The award was published in the official gazette of Buenos Aires through IPLyC Resolution 677/2026, and the company itself reported it as a significant event to the National Securities Commission and Bolsas y Mercados Argentinos. The contract includes the provision and maintenance of electronic gaming machines, the implementation of online control over the devices, and the remodeling and conversion of the venues to sustain a long-term operation.
The tender provides for an initial term of 20 years, with the possibility of an additional one-year extension at the sole option of the provincial regulatory authority. Boldt still needs to complete the administrative procedures prior to the signing of the definitive contract, at which point the concession period will begin. Meanwhile, the operator highlighted that the award supports its strategy of sustained growth and the technical solvency of its teams.
This decision comes at a time when the Province of Buenos Aires has been reorganizing its physical casino structure and pushing for the digitalization of land-based gaming, with instruments such as mandatory QR code payments in the venues. Boldt's continuity in three key tourist hubs provides predictability for technology providers, venue employees, and municipalities that depend on the activity as an economic driver.
The IPLyC of Buenos Aires is one of the most influential subnational regulators in Latin America, and its tender policy sets a trend for the rest of the country. The two-decade extension of a contract of this magnitude, combined with demands for online control and building modernization, reinforces a model in which traditional land-based gaming operators are forced to coexist with digital transformation. In a region where several Latin American regulators are rewriting their casino and bingo frameworks, the Buenos Aires case serves as a reference for similar processes in Chile, Uruguay, Peru, and Colombia.
