IPLyC, Nexum Foundation partner to stop gambling addiction in
Gonzalo Atanasof signed a key agreement to bring talks and workshops to young people. The goal is to combat illegal online gambling through early prevention and family dialogue.
The cultural and health battle against gambling among teenagers increasingly requires more soldiers. Under this premise, the Provincial Institute of Lottery and Casinos (IPLyC) of Buenos Aires decided to expand its support network by signing a new cooperation agreement, this time with the Nexum Foundation.
The agreement has a clear operational purpose: to design new training and awareness spaces that allow addressing the problem before it is too late. The strategy aims to generate an open discussion about the risks of illegal online gambling, focusing on early detection within the family and school environment.
The signing of the agreement was led by Gonzalo Atanasof, president of the IPLyC, and Pablo Carrera, head of the Nexum Foundation. Both agreed that prevention cannot be an isolated effort by the State, but a collective construction.
An open-door policy
Atanasof highlighted that the institute has already been carrying out intensive work with talks in the field, but the magnitude of the challenge demands adding voices. According to the official, this agreement allows incorporating a new strategic ally to strengthen a public policy based on care and coordination with civil society.
For its part, the Nexum Foundation valued the opportunity to contribute a plural and responsible perspective to an issue that, they assure, affects all social classes and requires comprehensive responses.
These actions are not isolated events. They are framed within the Provincial Plan for the Prevention and Treatment of Adolescent Gambling Addiction, an interministerial initiative that Buenos Aires launched in 2025 and that involves the areas of Justice, Health, Education, and Security to try to shield minors from screens.
