LOTBA trains influencers on illegal betting, child gambling

The Buenos Aires City Lottery (LOTBA) carried out a new training session on problematic gambling among minors, aimed at well-known influencers and celebrities who have been reported to the Justice system for promoting illegal online gambling platforms on their social media.

This activity was conducted within the framework of the Reparation Agreements promoted by the Specialized Gambling Prosecutor's Office (FEJA) and took place at one of LOTBA's headquarters in the City of Buenos Aires. Among the attendees of the training were public figures such as host Wanda Nara and musician L-Gante, who, along with other celebrities, actively participated in the session.

The Buenos Aires City Lottery emphasized that the main objective of the initiative was to raise awareness about the risks associated with illegal gambling and to highlight the importance of promoting legal gambling as a key tool to prevent childhood gambling addiction. "This is part of a set of unprecedented measures in our country that LOTBA has been promoting with the firm commitment to eradicate illegal gambling in the City and protect the most vulnerable groups," the institution stated.

During the training, LOTBA professionals provided detailed information and concrete recommendations about the dangers of illegal online gambling platforms. They also offered tools to prevent childhood gambling addiction, explained LOTBA's regulatory role in the City of Buenos Aires, and stressed the importance of fostering safe, responsible gambling under legal regulation.

To date, 23 influencers and celebrities have participated in this training, while 93 formal notices have been sent and 22 complaints have been filed regarding illegal physical gambling. These actions are part of a comprehensive strategy to combat illegal gambling and especially protect minors.

In parallel, LOTBA relaunched the "Talking is Winning" campaign, a proposal aimed at promoting dialogue and awareness as fundamental tools to prevent and discourage minors from accessing illegal online gambling platforms. This campaign reinforces the Buenos Aires City Lottery’s commitment to protecting the most vulnerable sectors and eradicating illegal gambling in Buenos Aires.
