Seven out of ten bettors in Argentina choose the online channel
The betting ecosystem in Argentina has completed its transition to the digital environment, consolidating a trend that is redefining the national industry. According to the "National Report on Gambling in Argentina 2025" presented by ALEA, 71 percent of adults who placed bets in the last year did so through digital platforms. This figure marks an exponential growth compared to the previous year, where the number stood at 43 percent, showing that the online channel has ceased to be an alternative and has become the preferred modality for Argentinians. In general terms, three out of ten adults in the country participated in some form of gambling during the last twelve months.
Participation is particularly intense among younger segments. Generation Z (18 to 29 years old) records the highest levels of involvement with 69 percent, followed by Generation Y with 46 percent. For these users, gambling is naturally integrated into their daily digital habits, which explains why 86 percent of frequent bettors maintain constant activity, with a marked preference for weekends and nighttime hours.
This expansion has been directly driven by the widespread adoption of digital payment methods. 57 percent of bettors use virtual wallets to fund their accounts, while bank transfers account for 36 percent of transactions. Cash, which historically dominated the sector, has fallen to 27 percent, relegated by the immediacy and convenience offered by mobile platforms.
Alongside this growth, the report detects greater awareness of the associated risks. 34 percent of players identify addiction as a potential danger, a significant increase from the 21.8 percent recorded in 2024. Likewise, three out of ten frequent bettors admit to gambling "a lot" or "excessively," which underscores the importance of strengthening responsible gambling policies in a scenario of massive adoption.
