Stake launches in Buenos Aires with IPLyC license
Stake confirmed the official launch of its operations in the province of Buenos Aires through the domain stake.bet.ar, a move the company itself describes as its latest expansion step in Latin America. The brand arrives authorized by the Provincial Institute of Lotteries and Casinos (IPLyC), the regulator that controls online gambling activity in the country's largest district.
The province of Buenos Aires is home to over 17 million people and concentrates a key part of Argentine sports consumption, two attributes that are part of the operator's strategic assessment. The platform offers its sportsbook and online casino services in a version adapted to the preferences of the local public, with an emphasis on mobile gaming and payment mechanics compatible with the Argentine financial ecosystem.
This move is part of a regional sequence that already includes active operations in Mexico, Peru, Brazil, and Colombia. The company highlighted that Argentina's sports culture, coupled with high digital penetration, makes the country a strategic piece for consolidating the brand in the region. The ongoing alliance with former striker Sergio Agüero as a global ambassador provides additional visibility to the launch.
Diana Otálora, General Manager of Stake for Latin America, defined the arrival in the country as a natural step within the company's growth plan. "Argentina is an important market for us and a natural step in our expansion across Latin America. There is an incredibly passionate sports culture, a large and highly digitally connected population, and great long-term potential for Stake," said the executive.
This entry occurs in a scenario where the Argentine online gambling map remains fragmented by jurisdictions, with different licensing paces. Buenos Aires was one of the first provinces to organize its licensing regime and, in parallel, became the main competitive battleground: a growing group of local operators coexists with international brands seeking to secure market share before the next World Cup.
Stake's entry reinforces a trend observed throughout 2025 and so far in 2026: major global operators prioritize provincial licenses in Argentina, certifications in Brazil, and authorizations in Peru and Colombia as a basis for an integrated regional operation. In this landscape, the combination of formal licenses, sports marketing, and adapted products defines which brands manage to transform their initial entry into sustained market share within an increasingly competitive Latin American market.
