Bet Caixa: decisive step for modernizing Brazilian lottery
The president of the Brazilian Federation of Lottery Entrepreneurs (Febralot) expressed his full support for the Bet Caixa project, an initiative that marks Caixa Econômica Federal’s entry into the regulated sports betting segment. According to the leader, this step represents “a necessary evolution in the lottery house business and an essential modernization of the Brazilian lottery system, with security, transparency, and social purpose.”
The president highlighted that, although aspects such as the remuneration model and the operation of sales points still need to be defined, the physical network of more than 13,000 lottery houses distributed across 5,500 municipalities constitutes a strategic asset to scale the operation and strengthen digital inclusion. “In many cities without bank branches, the lottery entrepreneur is the only public service channel, carrying out payments of social benefits and essential services,” he recalled.
With more than 60 years of experience, the lottery network faces one of the most challenging moments in its history, which is why Bet Caixa arises as an opportunity to revitalize the network, attract new generations of bettors, and increase contributions to the social security system.
The project, which will have an international partner, seeks to strengthen public control over sports betting, combat illegal gambling, and consolidate an ethical, responsible, and nationwide model. Febralot emphasizes that the combination of the digital environment with in-person service is key to maintaining public trust and promoting responsible gambling, a practice that has been part of the lottery network’s culture for decades.
Finally, the president of Febralot assured that the more than 13,000 entrepreneurs and 65,000 employees in the sector are ready to act as ambassadors of the best market practices, supporting Caixa in the transparent implementation of Bet Caixa. “Dialogue will be fundamental to ensure that this project becomes an international benchmark for responsibility, governance, and sustainability,” he concluded.
