Brazil recorded 120 million World Cup betting transactions
Brazil's fixed-odds sports betting platforms recorded over 120 million transactions during the 2026 World Cup, according to a survey conducted by Unico, a company specializing in digital identity verification that provides services to the sector. The study indicated that during the tournament there were 13 million unique active bettors, while the identification system processed millions of accesses and operations linked to regulated sportsbooks.
The highest level of activity occurred during the match between Brazil and Scotland, played on June 24 for the third round of the group stage. At the moment of the Brazilian national team's second goal, scored by Vinícius Jr. in stoppage time, the platform reached a record of 1,513 requests per second. Another moment of high demand occurred after Ferran Torres' goal that gave Spain the world title against Argentina on July 19, when the company registered 43,600 requests per minute in its authentication systems.
In addition to validating user identities, the technology allowed for the detection and blocking of 770,000 fraud attempts during the competition, with an overall registration process completion rate of 86 percent and an average validation time of just ten seconds. The survey also showed the predominance of mobile access in the online betting ecosystem, as phones accounted for 98.8 percent of authentications and computers represented only 1.1 percent of accesses. Fernanda Beato, general manager of Unico, stated that each goal became a real-time test for the operation and suggested that the 120 million transactions are evidence that the infrastructure is prepared for the market's highest pressure moments throughout the year.
