Brazil's Receita Federal Tool for Betting Tax Calculation
Brazil's Receita Federal (Federal Revenue) has taken a significant step towards modernizing tax oversight and facilitating tax compliance with the launch of a new digital resource for taxpayers. This tool is specifically designed to assist individuals in determining the taxable base and calculating Income Tax derived from net prizes obtained on betting platforms, both physical and virtual, as well as fantasy sports competitions. With this initiative, authorities aim to foster tax compliance and offer a simplified solution that provides clarity to citizens regarding their tax obligations in a rapidly consolidating market.
The role of the ComprovaBet voucher in consolidating annual results
To use this new calculation system, the bettor must have the document called ComprovaBet, formally known as the Proof of Results in Fixed-Odds Lottery Bets. This report is a fundamental piece for industry transparency, as it consolidates all results from the previous calendar year, integrating both winnings obtained and losses recorded. It is a legal obligation for operating agents to make this voucher available to their users before the last business day of February each year. With this information, the taxpayer can use the Receita Federal application to view their real situation with the tax authorities and proceed with the corresponding declaration accurately.
Taxation regulations and deadlines for tax payment via the Darf form
The taxation scheme applied to betting prizes establishes exemption parameters that protect small winners. A tax rate of 15% is applied exclusively to the portion of the annual net prize that exceeds the limit of R$ 28,467.20. Amounts below this threshold remain exempt from taxation. If the calculation indicates that tax is due, the system facilitates the issuance of the Federal Revenue Collection Document, known as Darf. The deadline for this payment is the last business day of April, coinciding with the usual period for settling accounts with the national tax administration.
Progress in state control and user protection in the regulated market
Complementary to the fiscal aspect, the Brazilian government has reinforced its responsible gambling policies through the Centralized Self-Exclusion Platform, implemented at the end of 2025. This tool allows any citizen to voluntarily request the blocking of their access to betting sites and stop receiving targeted advertising for a determined period. According to data provided by the Ministry of Finance, the response to this initiative has been remarkable, with over 300,000 Brazilians having requested self-exclusion since December 2025. The system operates in an integrated manner, disabling the applicant's CPF for new registrations and blocking active accounts, demonstrating the State's effort to balance tax collection with the protection of consumers' mental health.
