Coljuegos achieves historic rating in fiscal audit
The Comptroller General of the Republic of Colombia awarded Coljuegos a rating of 4.93 out of 5 in the audit reports corresponding to the 2024 and 2025 fiscal years, in recognition of the efficiency, transparency, and proper administration of the country's gaming regulator. The score reflects the institutional strengthening of the entity and its ability to fulfill its central mission: to collect resources destined for the health of Colombians.
"This is the result of our transparent and efficient work. During our administration, we have achieved historical collections for health. We went from COP 753 billion in 2022 to COP 1.06 trillion in 2025," said Marco Emilio Hincapié, president of Coljuegos. The executive also highlighted that the entity has positioned itself as an international benchmark in gaming regulation, while boosting the lottery and chance gaming sector in Colombia.
The Comptroller's report also registered a significant improvement in Coljuegos' accounting situation: the entity went from a qualified opinion in 2024 to an unqualified opinion in 2025, which confirms the reasonableness of its financial statements and the soundness of its budgetary management. "This result confirms that we have worked in compliance with public accounting and budget standards," Hincapié stated.
Among the pillars of institutional transformation, the report highlighted the integration of artificial intelligence tools for monitoring illegal platforms, the immediate blocking of more than 55,000 unauthorized betting sites in coordination with the Ministry of Information and Communications Technologies (MinTIC), and the creation of the Single Importers Registry (RIC) as a mechanism to protect the legal market against fraudulent networks.
Coljuegos' results are relevant for the Latin American context at a time when several countries in the region are advancing in the consolidation of their regulatory frameworks. Colombia, with more than a decade of experience in online gaming regulation since 2016, has become a reference case for regulators in Brazil, Peru, and other markets seeking to balance tax collection with the control of illegal gambling and player protection.
