Coljuegos & Spain Police: Pact Against Illegal Gambling & Match Fixing
Within the framework of the ICE Barcelona 2026 fair, Colombia and Spain have secured their digital borders. Marco Emilio Hincapié, president of Coljuegos, and Luis Fernando Pascual Grasa, general commissioner of the Spanish Judicial Police, signed an international cooperation agreement to dismantle networks involved in illegal gambling, money laundering, and corruption in sports.
Cooperation Against Transnational Crime
This agreement, with an initial duration of four years, aims to directly target criminal structures that exploit the lack of borders on the internet to operate fraudulent betting platforms.
The strategic pillars of the agreement include:
- Technological Tracking: Use of advanced tools for the identification and blocking of unauthorized betting platforms operating between both countries.
- Shared Intelligence: Exchange of operational information and support in complex financial investigations.
- Multilateral Support: Active collaboration through global security nodes such as Interpol and Europol.
Focus on Sports Integrity
One of the most notable points is the fight against match-fixing. Both institutions will work on the early detection of suspicious betting patterns, ensuring that sports maintain their integrity against manipulation attempts by international mafias.
"Organized crime does not operate in isolation. This cooperation is key to protecting legality and citizen trust beyond our borders," stated Hincapié during the signing in Barcelona.
Training and Prevention
Beyond sanctions, the agreement includes training programs for officials from both countries and awareness campaigns. The objective is to protect public resources allocated to health in Colombia and prevent vulnerable populations from falling into the hands of unlicensed operators who do not offer Responsible Gambling guarantees.
