Coljuegos: US$200M+ in health contributions
During his participation in the GAT Expo 2025, held in the Dominican Republic, the president of Coljuegos, Marco Emilio Hincapié, announced that the entity surpassed US$205 million in contributions to Colombia's subsidized health system, consolidating the best performance in the regulator's history.
“We are building a new story for Coljuegos. In just 14 years of existence, 33% of all transfers made correspond to the period of the Government of Change,” highlighted Hincapié, referring to the results achieved during the current administration.
The growth is due to a comprehensive strategy of regulatory expansion and operational control, which includes the regulation of new products, the digitalization of processes, and an active fight against illegal gambling.
New modalities and modernization of the regulatory framework
Among the factors that drove revenue, Hincapié mentioned the incorporation of new games such as Keno, which is projected to contribute nearly US$127 million additional in the next five years, and the update of the raffle regulations, estimated at US$18.4 million annually.
These advances are complemented by the entity’s technological modernization strategy, which has allowed optimizing the traceability of resources, strengthening control systems, and increasing sector transparency.
“The expansion of the regulated offer and the digital monitoring of the ecosystem are pillars to guarantee a sustainable, responsible, and competitive industry,” stated the president of Coljuegos.
Results in control and oversight
The agency also reported a historic advance in the fight against illegality, with more than 200 operations carried out throughout the country during 2025, resulting in the seizure of 7,269 illegal items and the arrest of nearly 900 people linked to unauthorized activities.
Additionally, the blocking of 34,112 unlicensed betting websites and the destruction of more than 11,000 slot machines, novel gaming modules, bingo halls, and other clandestine devices were reported.
“Our determined fight against illegal operators not only protects the player but also strengthens the financing of the health system and trust in institutions,” emphasized Hincapié.
Regional recognition and international cooperation
The report was presented at the panel “From the Caribbean to the Andes: regulatory advances in the region”, where Hincapié shared the stage with Yamile Gutiérrez (G&G Studio Legal) and Adams Pérez (Puerto Rico Gaming Commission).
During the session, Colombia was highlighted as one of the most advanced gaming regulation models in Latin America, both for its robust legal framework and its capacity for technological innovation and effective control of the illegal market.
The consolidation of Coljuegos as a regional benchmark comes at a time when the Colombian iGaming sector is preparing for a new phase of expansion, with the challenge of continuing to grow under principles of responsibility, transparency, and fiscal sustainability.
