Boyacá Lottery achieves the highest technical reserve in the country
Lotería de Boyacá presented its management report to the Departmental Assembly, in which it recorded sales of 74.917 billion pesos, approximately 23.3 million dollars, between January and July 2026, representing a growth of 3.1 percent compared to the same period last year. According to the report presented by the entity's manager, Diego Fabián Hernández, the sales performance allows for projecting the fulfillment of the annual goal of 170 billion pesos, an ambitious but achievable figure thanks to the strengthening of the commercial strategy and the joint work of distributors, lottery vendors, and the administrative team.
One of the central announcements of the report was the growth of the institution's technical reserve, which as of the last draw in July exceeded 73 billion pesos, approximately 22.7 million dollars, the highest in its history and, according to the entity, the largest among Colombian lotteries. Hernández stated that this reserve provides financial stability to respond to prize payments and continue to compete strongly in the national market. The report also highlighted transfers to healthcare, with contributions of 19.510 billion pesos to the system, of which 14.242 billion correspond to the department of Boyacá.
The manager pointed out that one of the factors of growth is the lottery's permanent presence in different regions of the country, along with the strengthening of the sales force and the search for new markets, in a context where several draws in the first half of the year surpassed the 3 billion pesos mark in sales, a figure difficult to achieve years ago. Among the technological advancements, he presented the launch of the entity's own virtual wallet, a channel that registered a growth of 5.8 percent, although he clarified that modernization does not replace the work of traditional lottery vendors, who remain a fundamental part of ticket sales and will continue to receive institutional support.
