According to the institution, these fraudulent platforms deliberately use the entity's name, logos, and official colors to create a false appearance of legitimacy and thus attract unsuspecting users.
The risk to consumers is high, as these structures, which often use misleading names such as JPS Casino, operate outside any regulatory framework and represent a real threat to the integrity of personal information and financial capital of those who access them. The JPS has been emphatic in reminding that it is the only institution in the country legally authorized to administer lotteries and legal gambling, emphasizing that every bet placed through its official channels has a direct social purpose.
Security recommendations and official sales channels
To avoid falling into these scam schemes, the institution urges the public to take extreme precautions and always verify the origin of the games before participating. The security and transparency of the activity are only guaranteed when products are purchased through the channels authorized by the JPS, which include its official online sales platform, its extensive network of physical vendors, and duly authorized points of sale throughout the national territory.
The entity recommends systematically distrusting any application or website that imitates the institutional image outside these known channels. During this event, which was supported by the World Lottery Association (WLA), the urgency of modernizing legal frameworks to face cyber risks and protect the operational chain of the official market was discussed.
Mariela Vargas, president of the JPS, highlighted during the seminar that the fight against clandestine gambling requires a comprehensive response and constant international cooperation. For the official, the adoption of compliance standards and the strengthening of institutions are decisive tools to safeguard the financing of social projects that depend on state lotteries.
