The Appuesta platform starts operations in the Dominican Republic
The new sports betting platform Appuesta debuted in the Dominican Republic putting player controls up front. The house requires mandatory identity verification, restricts access to those over eighteen and allows setting deposit, stake and session-time limits, in addition to pausing or closing the account and requesting self-exclusion. According to local outlet El Avance, the company indicated it operates with authorisation from the Directorate of Casinos and Games of Chance of the Ministry of Finance and Economy.
In its sports offer, the platform gathers more than fifty disciplines and competitions, with the presence of the major baseball and basketball leagues, ATP circuit tennis, Formula 1 and electronic sports. The arrival takes place while the country defines its new legal framework for the sector, since in July the Chamber of Deputies approved, in two readings and with urgent processing, the bill regulating games of chance, with changes to the text that had previously passed through the Senate, where it must now return so those modifications are evaluated. That future law aims to order the authorisation, oversight and supervision of gaming activities, both in physical premises and on digital platforms.
