Calímaco certifies its PAM platform for the Spanish market
Calímaco, an open PAM platform for iGaming and lottery operators, announced that it has completed the certification of its technical system in accordance with the requirements of the Directorate General for the Regulation of Gambling (DGOJ) to operate in the regulated Spanish market. According to the company, the platform is in production with a state-licensed operator and represents its first operation in the Spanish market, which it described as one of the most demanding it has entered.
The license belongs to the operator, but the technical system supporting it is accountable to the same regulator in aspects such as recording gaming activity, traceability of each operation, access control to the General Registry of Gaming Access Prohibitions, and periodic reporting to the Directorate General for the Regulation of Gambling. Calímaco co-founder, Alejandro Serrano, stated that entering Spain is an exercise in compliance rather than product, and argued that the most costly and time-consuming aspect is not functionality but demonstrating to the regulator that every operation is recorded and auditable. For this reason, the company chose to announce its entry into the market with the platform already certified and an operation live.
For her part, Calímaco's Head of Compliance, Ruth Hernández, stated that having a certified technological platform in Spain is essential to operate in online gaming with the highest guarantees. She maintained that, from a compliance perspective, having a certified platform reduces legal, regulatory, operational, and reputational risks, facilitates audits and periodic controls, and demonstrates the company's commitment to responsible, traceable activity aligned with legal obligations.
