The start of the day at the Fira de Barcelona was marked by a gray sky and persistent rain that, far from discouraging attendees, served as a backdrop for a vibrant opening. From the early hours, the venue turned into a true celebration of innovation, demonstrating that the move from London has not only maintained the event’s prestige but, on the contrary, in its second year in Barcelona, its scale continues to grow.
Year after year, the ICE ecosystem surpasses itself, and 2026 has been no exception. With an expanded exhibition space and a flow of visitors that exceeded access controls during peak hours, the message is clear: the gaming industry is more alive and expansive than ever.
The center of gravity: Brazil, Latam, and the rise of Africa
If anything has become clear on this first day, it is where the capital is headed. The halls of the Fira reflected massive interest in two key regions:
- Brazil and Latam: With Brazilian regulation maturing and markets like Peru and Colombia standardized, operators and content providers are focusing their efforts on localized solutions for the Latin audience.
- The "Boom" of Africa: One of this year’s surprises is the strong presence of brands and providers exclusively focused on the African market. The digitalization of countries like Nigeria, Kenya, and South Africa has positioned this continent as the new frontier for platform providers and sports betting.

Despite the event having moved to Spanish soil, the essence of ICE remains deeply international. It is remarkable how, among cutting-edge technology stands and networking zones, English remains the undisputed lingua franca.
