Over 42,000 envelopes in Panama's 1st Fiscal Lottery draw
The Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) of Panama reported that the first drawing of the Fiscal Lottery, held on August 28, collected a total of 42,000 envelopes with participating invoices. This figure demonstrates the positive reception the initiative has had among Panamanian citizens, who for more than 30 days deposited their invoices in the boxes set up for the drawing.
Pedro Escalona, Secretary General of the MEF, highlighted the positive response from the population and emphasized the trust of Panamanians in the Fiscal Lottery process. "Many Panamanians trusted the lottery process," Escalona stated, underscoring the transparency and logistics implemented to guarantee the integrity of the drawing, which is held nationwide. The second drawing of the Fiscal Lottery already has a date: it will take place on October 30.
To participate, citizens can deposit their invoices issued between August 28 and October 23 in the boxes that will be available starting Friday, September 5. It is important to remember that only invoices that include the taxpayer's name will be valid, an essential requirement to be part of the drawing. The closing of the boxes is scheduled for October 23, 2025, the deadline to submit the corresponding invoices.
In the coming days, the MEF will announce the exact place and time where the drawing will be held, thus reinforcing its commitment to transparency and citizen participation. The Ministry of Economy and Finance emphasized that the Fiscal Lottery program's main objective is to encourage consumers to demand invoices, thereby promoting fiscal control and rewarding those who comply with this practice.
The initiative seeks to strengthen the tax culture in the country and contribute to greater formalization of the economy.
