Apuesta Legal: Peruvian betting market stagnation signs
The operator Apuesta Legal has presented a detailed analysis on the evolution of traffic on sports betting sites in Peru, comparing its behavior with other digital industries and markets in the region.
The report, based on data from SimilarWeb, indicates that visits to online betting portals in Peru reached 459 million during the first half of 2025, positioning the sector above high-reach digital giants in the country. According to the study, the traffic volume of betting houses even surpassed the combined total of the two main pornographic portals, Xvideos and Pornhub, and also outpaced global platforms such as ChatGPT and Wikipedia.
This places sports betting among the most consulted sites by Peruvians, reflecting the interest and penetration of this industry in the country's digital life. However, Apuesta Legal warns that behind this accumulated growth, the Peruvian market is beginning to show signs of slowdown. The variation in visits between the first and second quarters of 2025 was less than 1%, rising from 229.8 million to 229.9 million accesses respectively.
This stagnation contrasts with the situation in neighboring countries: in Chile, traffic to betting sites grew by 50% in the same period, while in Brazil the recent regulation of the sector tripled the volume of visits. Regarding the brand ranking, Apuesta Total clearly leads the Peruvian market, surpassing 100 million semiannual visits and concentrating 22% of the total traffic. It is followed by Betano, with 88 million accesses, and Inkabet, which recorded 63 million. Other relevant brands in the country include Te apuesto and Stake, although with lower figures.
The study also delves into the profile of the Peruvian bettor. 66% of accesses to betting sites come from men, and the youth of the users stands out: 27% of visits correspond to people aged 18 to 24, an identical percentage to the 25 to 34 age group. This characteristic differentiates Peru from other markets, where older users still maintain significant participation. Additionally, 82% of accesses are made through mobile devices, confirming the preference for immediacy and mobility in online betting consumption.
In conclusion, although the online betting sector in Peru maintains impressive traffic figures and surpasses other digital industries in popularity, the Apuesta Legal report warns of a possible market saturation. The contrast with the growth observed in Chile and Brazil poses challenges for the local industry, which will need to seek new strategies to reactivate its dynamism and adapt to the consumption trends of an increasingly young and mobile audience.
