Peru to collect $125 million in online gambling taxes during 2025
The Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) has confirmed that the remote gaming and betting industry in Peru generated tax revenues of S/ 419.5 million (approximately USD 125 million) during the 2025 fiscal year. This result is the direct outcome of the implementation of Law No. 31557, which has allowed the State to capture resources from a sector that previously operated informally. The funds collected have a strategic social purpose: 40% is allocated to Mincetur for oversight and tourism promotion, while the remainder is divided equally among the Public Treasury, the Ministry of Health for mental health programs, and the Peruvian Sports Institute (IPD) for the promotion of national athletes.
The operational breakdown shows that remote sports betting has consolidated as the main source of income, contributing S/ 117.4 million in the first eleven months of the year. For their part, remote casino games added S/ 91.4 million, while land-based slot machines contributed S/ 197.5 million. This dynamism is supported by a robust formalization process that already includes 54 authorized technological platforms, 320 registered providers, and a total of 4,583 physical betting shops operating legally throughout the country.
In addition to revenue collection, the new regulatory framework has strengthened the fight against the illegal market and money laundering. During 2025, authorities closed 17 clandestine establishments and destroyed more than 550 illegal slot machines. Under the supervision of the Financial Intelligence Unit (UIF), stricter control protocols have been established, such as the obligation to report any transaction exceeding USD 2,500 within a maximum of 24 hours. This model of total traceability ensures that 100% of operations are auditable, marking the end of the "gray era" and positioning Peru as a regional benchmark in iGaming transparency and oversight.
