Peru: US$124M+ in gaming and betting tax revenue until Nov.
The regulated gaming and betting market in Peru continues to show solid performance. Between January and November 2025, the State collected S/419.5 million, equivalent to US$124.5 million, in taxes related to casinos, slot machines, online games, and sports betting, according to official figures from the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur).
The growth is closely linked to the consolidation of remote sports betting, which positioned itself as the main fiscal contribution of the system, in a scenario marked by greater state control, expansion of authorized operators, and a formalization process that is steadily advancing.
Data from SUNAT shows that the Remote Sports Betting Tax led the collection with S/117.4 million (US$34.8 million). In second place was the Slot Machine Tax, which generated S/197.5 million (US$58.6 million), while the Traditional Casino Tax contributed S/13.1 million (US$3.9 million).
The remote gaming segment also had a relevant performance, with tax revenues of S/91.4 million (US$27 million). This growth is supported by a regulated ecosystem composed of 54 authorized technological platforms, 320 registered providers, and eight international laboratories enabled for certification.
Mincetur attributes the good result to the progress of the formalization process started at the end of 2024. Since last December alone, 1,756 new betting halls were incorporated, raising the total number of authorized venues nationwide to 4,583.
Distribution of collected resources
The ministry detailed that the funds obtained through the activity are distributed evenly among different strategic areas of the State:
- 20 percent is allocated to the Public Treasury
- 20 percent to the Ministry of Health, focusing on mental health programs
- 40 percent to Mincetur, for oversight and tourism promotion tasks
- 20 percent to the Peruvian Sports Institute, for the development of national sports
Strengthening control and international recognition
In addition to the fiscal impact, the authorities highlighted advances in control matters. During 2025, comprehensive supervision of online gaming and betting activity was maintained, in coordination with the National Police. As a result, four illegal casino and slot machine halls and 13 sports betting venues were closed. In October, 557 slot machines operating outside the legal framework in various regions of the country were also destroyed.
In this context, Mincetur recalled that Peru was recognized in 2025 as the best regulator in the world in the gaming and betting sector by the International Masters of Gaming Law, becoming the first Latin American country to receive this recognition, which supports the adopted regulatory model and its effective implementation.
