Hard Rock Casino San Juan: USD 850M Investment
Construction will begin in mid-2026, with the ribbon-cutting expected in 2029. The project promises to generate more than 3,700 jobs between construction and operation, backed by Governor González-Colón.
The iconic Hard Rock guitar will finally have its permanent home in the Island of Enchantment. In a move that will reshape the Caribbean hotel map, Hard Rock International confirmed the development of the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino San Juan. This is a massive project requiring an investment of USD 850 million and born from a strategic alliance with Misla Hospitality, Stonecrest Investment Management, and The Interfin Companies.
The schedule is already set: excavators will start engines in mid-2026, aiming for a grand opening in 2029. The complex will not be just a transient hotel but a comprehensive destination designed by the firms Klai Juba Wald and CMA Architects. The structure will house 415 rooms, 58 luxury suites, and, following the premium real estate trend, will add 186 branded residences for those seeking to live the rock experience permanently.
Music, gaming, and employment
The announcement was received enthusiastically by the local administration. Puerto Rico’s governor, Jenniffer González-Colón, highlighted that the arrival of the brand opens a world of possibilities for economic development. The figures support the official optimism: the creation of an estimated 2,500 direct jobs during the construction phase and another 1,250 permanent positions once the casino lights and stages are lit.
Jeff Hook, Hard Rock’s chief operating officer, emphasized that music is the shared DNA between the brand and Puerto Rican culture. Therefore, the resort will include a professional recording studio, in addition to high-level amenities such as a spa, gym, and three rooftop pools. With family tourism in mind, the design also integrates exclusive spaces for children and teenagers (kids club and game rooms), ensuring leisure offerings for all ages.
From the development team, Giorgio Borlenghi (The Interfin Companies) assured that the project has been approached with a focus on cultural preservation and environmental responsibility, aiming to deliver a world-class asset that generates long-term value for the San Juan community.
