The platform allows users to participate in lotteries such as Powerball and Loto Cash from their mobile devices. Although it operates independently from the Lottery Bureau, the system functions as an intermediary or "courier" that processes bets through authorized sales agents.
Puerto Rico takes a firm step towards modernizing its traditional gambling games with the launch of Lotería Móvil PR. Created by entrepreneurs Julián Soto and Karlos Miranda, this mobile application allows island residents to place Electronic Lottery bets remotely, eliminating the need to visit physical terminals or use cash.
The platform offers access to popular products such as Powerball, Loto Cash, Pega 2, Pega 3, and Pega 4, and will soon integrate Raspa Clásico. Through the app, players can manage their balances, receive result notifications, and verify their prizes in real time.
The "Courier" Model: Technology Serving Tradition
The operation of Lotería Móvil PR is based on a technological messaging model. Once the user places their bet in the application, the platform team acquires the physical ticket at an official point of sale. Subsequently:
- The user receives a confirmation and the scanned ticket by email.
- The original physical ticket is kept under guard in a safe.
- The service cost includes a recharge fee of 14.4% plus a fixed fee of USD 0.30 per transaction.
Official Position of the Lottery Bureau
It is important to highlight that Lotería Móvil PR is a private and independent entity. Heidi Hernández Olivo, assistant secretary of the Puerto Rico Lottery Bureau, clarified that the application is not part of the official Government operation but acts strictly as an intermediary.
"The technological 'Courier' does not replace, alter, or control the official operation of the Electronic Lottery; bets are always processed through an authorized seller of the official system," Hernández warned. However, the official acknowledged that this type of technological innovation positively contributes to sales volume and the reach of state lotteries.
