Conajzar-DNIT Merger: January Revenue up 23%, Exceeds US$2.7M

The gambling sector in Paraguay has started the fiscal year with an outstanding performance that validates recent regulatory changes. The National Gambling Commission (Conajzar) has made public its financial results for January, revealing double-digit growth that exceeds market expectations.
According to the official report, now hosted on the transparency portal of the National Tax Revenue Directorate (DNIT), collections for the first month of the year reached G. 18,715,885,541 (approximately US$ 2.75 million). This figure represents a year-on-year increase of 23.4% compared to the same period in 2025, marking one of the strongest starts to the year in the last decade.
Collection Efficiency: The Impact of the "New Conajzar"
This jump in revenue is no coincidence. Local analysts agree that the determining factor has been the operational integration of Conajzar within the DNIT structure. This administrative move provided the gambling regulator with real oversight capacity and coercive collection tools it previously lacked.
The perception of a higher risk of sanction and the formalization of operators who previously operated in gray areas have driven compliance with the monthly fee payment. The January figure is especially relevant because it acts as a barometer for the rest of the fiscal year. If the trend continues, Paraguay is on track to comfortably surpass the record set in 2025.
2025 as a Launching Base
To put the magnitude of the current growth into context, it is worth remembering that last year was already historic. The total fees collected between January and December 2025 amounted to G. 215,940,913,734 (about US$ 32.2 million), representing an 8.5% increase compared to 2024.
However, the 23% growth rate recorded at the start of 2026 suggests that the market is far from reaching its ceiling. With the DNIT machinery operating at full capacity to detect irregularities in both physical and online betting, the Paraguayan state seems to have found the formula to maximize resources derived from this industry.
