Flutter integrates PokerStars into FanDuel for North America
The iGaming industry in the United States is undergoing a paradigm shift with Flutter Entertainment's decision to withdraw independent PokerStars platforms and absorb them under the FanDuel ecosystem. This strategic move aims to unify the poker, casino, and sports betting experience into a single application, allowing users to manage their funds through a single wallet.
The migration not only simplifies navigation for the customer but also marks the end of an era for PokerStars as an autonomous entity on U.S. soil, betting on the brand power and user traction that FanDuel has demonstrated in the competitive sports betting market.
The impact of shared liquidity and market share recovery
One of the fundamental pillars of this integration is the expansion of the shared liquidity network, a critical factor for the success of online poker. Under this new structure, Pennsylvania will finally join the player pool already shared by New Jersey and Michigan, creating significantly greater traffic at cash game tables and tournaments. This increase in the critical mass of players is Flutter's direct response to the ground lost by PokerStars to competitors such as BetMGM and WSOP Online, who currently dominate 70 percent of the market. By adding Pennsylvania players and allowing regular FanDuel sportsbook users to access poker with a single click, the company seeks to reverse the negative trend and regain the leadership it held years ago.
A simplified user experience through the single wallet
The technical migration implies profound changes in user interaction with the product. Existing PokerStars players who do not have a FanDuel account will need to transition to the new system, while current users of the sports platform will be able to start playing poker immediately. As part of this structural cleanup process, the PokerStars Rewards program will cease to operate on March 13, with unopened player chests being cashed out. Likewise, progressive casino jackpots will be withdrawn on April 1 to distribute accumulated funds among participants, eliminating redundant features that do not fit the simplified architecture Flutter wishes to project for its North American growth engine.
Flutter's global consolidation under the FanDuel brand
This maneuver responds to a global vision of operational efficiency that Peter Jackson, CEO of Flutter, has been successfully implementing in other territories. The clearest precedent is in the Italian market, where a similar migration of PokerStars to consolidated brands resulted in a 13 percent increase in revenue and doubled the volume of new customers. By focusing its resources on FanDuel, Flutter takes advantage of a 17.6 percent year-on-year growth in the iGaming sector in the United States, where it already has approximately 4 million active monthly users. The integration in North America is just one more piece of a global plan that will continue to unfold throughout 2026, reaffirming that survival in regulated markets depends on scale and the ability to offer a comprehensive entertainment ecosystem under a single name.
