GLI opens strategic capital to CVC Strategic Opportunities
Gaming Laboratories International (GLI), a leading company in iGaming certification and testing, announced the entry of CVC Strategic Opportunities as its first external investor. CVC is a European private equity fund focused on B2B sectors. The transaction marks a milestone for GLI, which until now has operated as a privately held company.
GLI is a critical provider in the iGaming chain. Operators need GLI certification to obtain licenses in many regulated jurisdictions. Its model is defensible: a consolidated position, technical barriers to entry (testing laboratories), and sticky customers (regulated operators require annual renewals).
CVC targets investments in niche B2B service companies with defensible EBITDA. GLI fits this profile: regulated clients with recurring contracts, high margins, and growth with the iGaming market. CVC's entry will likely accelerate GLI's geographical expansion and product lines.
For operators, GLI is a mandatory partner, not an optional one. The change of ownership does not directly impact commercial relationships, but it could indicate future expansion of GLI's services in emerging markets like LatAm, where demand for certification is growing with regulation.
Consolidation in iGaming B2B services (testing, auditing, compliance) is a pattern: few players, high regulatory barriers, high pricing margins. CVC understands this type of business. GLI under CVC will have more resources to expand its presence in LatAm, where certification is increasingly required.
