Kalshi, CNN partner for real-time prediction data integration

The CNN network has reached an exclusive agreement with the prediction markets platform Kalshi, which will allow the incorporation of its real-time probability data into the channel's programming and all its digital, streaming, and social media formats. The information was revealed by Sara Fischer from Axios.

The agreement makes Kalshi the official prediction markets partner of CNN, marking the company's first major media deal and its first collaboration with a national television network. According to Axios, CNN will not pay to access the data provided by Kalshi.

Real-time prediction data for television and digital content

As part of the agreement, CNN will use Kalshi’s real-time API to continuously integrate probabilities on political, cultural, news, and weather events. The channel will also incorporate a ticker on screen powered by Kalshi, while newsrooms and production teams will have direct access to the data for reports, analysis, and graphics.

CNN’s chief data analyst, Harry Enten, who had previously cited Kalshi markets in his segments, will lead the editorial integration.

Kalshi stands out for its speed and accuracy in forecasts. The company claims it projected the outcome of the New York mayoral election just eight minutes after the polls closed, hours before most media outlets.

Kalshi’s CEO, Tarek Mansour, told Axios that the alliance will allow CNN “to report more accurately on what might happen, rather than just recounting what has already happened.” According to him, prediction market-based information helps newsrooms interpret possible future developments more clearly.

CNN seeks to strengthen its analytical approach

CNN executives noted that the integration adds a novel layer of analysis to the channel’s coverage. Sam Felix, senior vice president of strategic partnerships, stated that CNN is recognized for its fact-based journalism and that incorporating prediction data will enrich audience understanding of context.

“By partnering with Kalshi to display prediction market data in our programming, CNN journalists will have a new data-driven perspective to explore and better understand the world,” Felix said.

Kalshi accelerates its corporate expansion

The agreement comes at a time of strong growth for Kalshi. The company recently closed a Series E round of $1 billion, raising its valuation to $11 billion, more than double what it was two months ago. Additionally, it expanded its presence through integrations with Google Finance and Bloomberg terminals.

The alliance with CNN includes an exclusivity clause, which will prevent the network from establishing similar agreements with other prediction market operators.

The move fits within a larger trend: Yahoo Finance recently announced a collaboration with Polymarket, while Sports Illustrated and Time signed deals with Galactic.

Alliance amid a sensitive political climate

The agreement also arrives in a context of political scrutiny. Donald Trump Jr. acts as an advisor to both Kalshi and Polymarket, a detail that could provoke reactions given CNN’s historical positioning with conservative audiences. To date, Trump Jr. has not commented on the alliance.

Kalshi describes itself as a platform designed to understand “the future in real time,” with a user base that includes journalists, legislators, institutional investors, and retail traders.
