SOFTSWISS report: iGaming prediction markets for operators

SOFTSWISS, an international iGaming software provider, has released a research report dedicated to prediction markets and their impact on operators considering entering this segment. The document, titled Prediction Markets: From Trading to Betting, maps the entire trajectory of the category, from its origins in papal election betting in the 15th century to the platforms that today process billions of dollars in monthly volume.

The report analyzes the current competitive landscape, with platforms like Polymarket and Kalshi as benchmarks and the first native launches from the iGaming ecosystem expected in 2025 and 2026. It also breaks down the regulatory status of prediction markets in North America, Latin America, Europe, Asia, Africa, and Oceania, and concludes with a practical guide on how to approach the launch of this type of product within an online operator's offering.

Among the highlighted data, the report indicates that the monthly volume of prediction markets increased from 32 million dollars in January 2024 to 12.6 billion dollars in January 2026, a scale jump that, according to Alexander Kamenetskyi, Head of Operations at SOFTSWISS Sportsbook, the industry can no longer afford to ignore. Kamenetskyi emphasizes that the segment has transformed into a fully formed product category and warns that almost none of that volume passed through traditional operators.

The document relies on data from Dune, Keyrock, TRM Labs, and Blask, among other sources, and includes a demand analysis in five markets: the United States, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, and Canada. The research points to sports as the highest-value event category on Kalshi and Polymarket, with four of Polymarket's ten most profitable wallets operating primarily in sports and accumulating 22 million dollars in combined profits between January and March 2026. Bernstein projects that the global market will reach one trillion dollars by 2030, with a volume growth of 370% in the remainder of 2026 alone.

The report accompanies the recent launch of SOFTSWISS Prediction Markets, the company's own solution, which allows operators to offer event-based betting on politics, economics, sports, entertainment, and other verticals. The fixed-odds model is more compatible with existing iGaming licenses and infrastructure than the peer-to-peer scheme of pioneering platforms, and it is offered as an independent iFrame widget or as a direct integration within SOFTSWISS Sportsbook, with implementation times of two to three days for current partners.

For Latin America, where prediction markets have already generated regulatory debate in Brazil following Resolution 5.298 of the National Monetary Council regarding platforms like Polymarket and Kalshi, the report offers a key strategic guide for operators evaluating how to capitalize on this trend without compromising their licensing frameworks. The region, along with other emerging markets, appears in the report as one of the areas to watch due to its combination of digital penetration, appetite for new betting formats, and regulations still under construction.
