Pragmatic Play localizes its wheel with Mega Wheel Latino
Pragmatic Play premiered Mega Wheel Latino, a version of its prize wheel produced for the Spanish-speaking audience in Latin America. The broadcast originates from an exclusive studio that the provider set up in Colombia and is hosted by native Spanish-speaking presenters, so that the language and accent are no longer a layer of translation over a format conceived for another market.
The mechanics are the same as the original format. The player anticipates which segment the wheel will stop on among nine betting options, and each numbered segment pays a multiplier starting at 1x and going up to 40x. Before each spin, the game draws a Mega Lucky Number, which selects one of these segments and boosts its prize up to 500x.
The title joins a series that the provider has been developing for the region. During the first months of the year, it debuted with Speed Blackjack Latino and Football Blitz Top Card Latino, also in Spanish, and the wheel now completes the third pillar of that offering, that of the big table game show. The decision to set up the studio in Colombia has regulatory as well as commercial implications. Colombia is the Spanish-speaking market with the oldest online gambling regime in the region and the one that enables local live content production with the least friction, so a studio located there can serve the rest of the Spanish-speaking countries without raising the doubts of origin that a European broadcast might. For the operator, the argument is not the language itself, which was already resolved with dubbing, but the time zone, because a table produced on the continent covers the Latin American night with its own staff instead of leaving it to the early morning shift of a studio located on the other side of the Atlantic.
