Bolivia Historic: Business Promotions Authorized for 2025
Bolivia's Gaming Control Authority (AJ) has presented the results of its Final Public Accountability Report for the 2025 fiscal year. In a virtual event held from its headquarters in La Paz, the agency highlighted a budget execution exceeding 90 percent of the resources allocated for the regulation, oversight, and control of gambling and lottery activities in the country. This compliance responds to the constitutional mandate that obliges public institutions to be transparent about the use of state funds and the exercise of their functions.
One of the most notable points of the annual report was the dynamism of the commercial sector. During the 2025 period, the AJ authorized a total of 1,226 business promotions, setting a new historical record for the institution. This figure surpasses the previous mark of 1,211 resolutions reached in 2024, reflecting a growing interest from companies to operate under the current legal framework. This volume of activity resulted in direct benefits for consumers, as prizes totaling Bs573 million, equivalent to approximately 81 million dollars, were awarded.
Operations against illegality and quality in management
Regarding the protection of the regulated market, the AJ intensified its efforts to eradicate illegal gambling. During the year, 82 interventions were carried out in illicit gambling establishments throughout the national territory. As a result of these actions, authorities seized 119 gambling devices and proceeded to destroy 230 machines and other illegal devices operating without authorization. These measures aim to ensure that gambling activities are conducted transparently and safely for the population.
Institutional management was also validated by external bodies. The AJ maintains its Quality Management System Certification under the ISO 9001:2015 standard, having successfully passed the audit conducted by the Colombian Institute of Technical Standards and Certification (ICONTEC). This endorsement guarantees that the regulatory and oversight processes in Bolivia comply with international standards of efficiency and transparency.
