Altenar brings its early payout to hockey 1x2 markets

Altenar early payout to ice hockey

Altenar has expanded its Early Payout feature to ice hockey, with the sporting calendar driving the timing, as a significant portion of the sport's 2026/27 seasons is already in full swing. The tool was initially added to the supplier's catalogue in early 2026 as part of its sportsbook product updates.

What changes is the scope, not the mechanics. The feature now supports ice hockey 1X2 markets, allowing an eligible bet to be paid out before the final result is confirmed, provided the applicable conditions are met. For operators, this provides an additional tool for a sport returning to the schedule, without requiring players to learn a new mechanic.

Giannis Papakonstantinou, who leads Sportsbook Product at the company, framed the move as a matter of seasonal timing. Ice hockey, he noted, provides operators with another prime opportunity to engage with players throughout the season, adding that bringing the feature to 1X2 markets gives their partners an additional way to boost their offering in the sport across more competitions, through a feature users already recognize. The executive placed the decision within an ongoing development roadmap designed to deliver flexibility when building and managing the sportsbook offering across different sports.

The fit with hockey has a rationale that goes beyond the calendar. Early payout works best where a lead is a strong indicator of the final result, and in a low-scoring sport like hockey, a two-goal cushion fulfills that condition well before the end of the game—allowing operators to settle early with controlled risk while the bettor secures their winnings. For the supplier, the strategy centers on reuse: extending a feature players already use in football to shorter-season sports is more cost-effective than building new markets, while giving operators something fresh to promote in the lobby just as the competition gets underway.
