Facephi — KYC & AML

Facephi — KYC & AML logo
Publicly listed Spanish digital identity and facial biometrics company focused on KYC, AML and remote onboarding for iGaming operators, with a LatAm subsidiary in Montevideo.
## A publicly listed company born in Alicante with a focus on banking and online gaming Facephi was founded in 2012 in Alicante by Javier Mira and Salvador Martí as a project focused on facial recognition when biometrics was still a marginal segment in Spain. More than a decade later the company is listed on BME Growth under ticker FACE, generates between 30 and 75 million euros in annual revenue and employs more than 250 people across its Alicante headquarters and subsidiaries in Seoul, London and Montevideo. That Uruguayan presence matters for operators in the region because it places LatAm commercial coverage in the same time zone as Brazil, Argentina and Chile. ## Remote onboarding in under five seconds with broad document support The proposition for a betting house revolves around remote biometric onboarding. The player captures their ID document, takes a selfie and the platform runs automatic OCR, document validation, age verification, screening against PEP and sanction lists, ISO-accredited passive liveness checks and biometric comparison in less than five seconds. In Brazil that piece is central because the SPA requires robust KYC and the platform supports CPF, RG, RNM (National Migration Registry), passports and visas, covering both the local player and the resident foreigner who must also register to bet. ## Continuous authentication and passive liveness against modern fraud The second important layer is recurring authentication. Facephi did not stop at player signup and built a passive authentication solution that validates identity at every login or sensitive transaction such as prize withdrawal. Passive liveness detects fraud attempts using deepfakes, 3D masks and pre-recorded videos, a threat that stopped being theoretical once public models for synthetic face generation became widely available. CEO Javier Mira has spent several years articulating that reading at industry events and in interviews with Spanish financial media. ## Institutional recognition and LatAm positioning Facephi was recognised in 2024 as a Representative Vendor in the Gartner Market Guide for KYC Platforms for Banking and appears recurrently in the same analyst's Market Guide for Identity Verification. The company reports more than 300 active clients with a retention rate above 95 percent, metrics that in a B2B licence and maintenance business point to a solid installed base rather than aggressive acquisition. For the LatAm iGaming ecosystem, particularly for operators entering Brazil under SPA rules, the combination of public listing, ISO certifications, a Montevideo subsidiary and Brazilian document coverage makes Facephi an institutionally legible option for compliance teams.
