Altenar brings its recipe for scaling sportsbooks to SAGSE Panama

Altenar confirmed its presence at SAGSE Central America & Caribbean 2026, which will take place on June 3 at the Sortis Hotel, Casino & Convention Center in Panama City. The event brings together the regional ecosystem at the crossroads of Central America, the Caribbean, and the main South American markets, and the company will use this platform to present its insights on how to scale a sportsbook beyond its launch.

Ahead of the event, Frederico Caputi, Senior Sales Manager at the company, reviewed the current state of the regulated market in Latin America and the growing role of sports betting as a retention driver. His main message is that recognition as Best Sportsbook Provider 2026 validates their approach, but the real advantage is built with product flexibility and sustained local presence.

Caputi focused on the case of Brazil, in its first regulated year, with approximately $7.5 billion in GGR, and more than half of that volume attributed to sportsbooks. For Altenar, being a benchmark in this context demonstrates that sportsbooks cannot be treated as a secondary product. Operators who understand this early on are the ones who manage to sustain growth beyond the initial acquisition curve.

One of the most emphasized points was the challenge of retention. The executive stated that many operators achieve successful launches with aggressive campaigns but then hit a ceiling when trying to convert that base into sustainable revenue. The solution is not to add more users but to improve product interaction, personalization, and the depth of live betting, three areas where the provider focuses its roadmap.

The second key aspect is the regulatory context. Latin America moves at different speeds depending on the country, with frameworks that are evolving during the implementation process. Altenar argues that the flexibility of its platform, combined with on-the-ground teams and local regulatory expertise, allows for a shorter time-to-market and reduced operational risk for operators entering new jurisdictions or expanding coverage across provinces and states.

Participation in SAGSE Panama reinforces the provider's position in a region where competition among sportsbook platforms is intensifying heading into the 2026 World Cup. The battle for market share among Altenar, Kambi, Betby, SBTech, and BetConstruct is increasingly defined by the ability to adapt to local frameworks, integrate with regional payment methods, and quickly incorporate specific markets such as local sports and eSports, an agenda that SAGSE places at the center of its Panamanian edition.
